Apartments forbid the honest gasoline answer. You need something that sits in a hallway, makes no CO, and runs a fridge compressor plus a router. Noise claims are manufacturer numbers; we did not put a meter in a studio.

Carry-first: Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 (1070 Wh, 1500 W, 23.8 lb). Expand-later: EcoFlow DELTA 3 (1024 Wh, 1800 W, extra batteries, <10 ms UPS copy). Lighter / smaller loads: EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro (768 Wh, 800 W, 18.2 lb). A gas inverter is not on this list.

Apartment constraints the spec sheet hides
- No refuel. You get one tank of watt-hours until the grid or a hallway outlet returns.
- UPS/EPS copy. Jackery 2000 v2 and 1000 v2 market <20 ms; DELTA 3 lists <10 ms; RIVER 2 Pro lists <30 ms EPS. These are manufacturer transfer times, not a Ranked lab.
- Outlets. You will run a fridge, a GPON/router, a lamp, maybe a laptop. 800 W is enough for that set if the fridge start surge behaves. 1500–1800 W is the more comfortable inverter.
- Neighbors. Jackery 2000 v2 markets <30 dB; DELTA 3 markets 30 dB under 600 W. Treat dB as a brochure until you live with the fans.
What not to buy for a 4th-floor walk-up
DELTA Pro 3 at 51.5 kg is a two-person lift, not an apartment grab-and-go. Honda EU2200i is 47.4 lb of “never run this in a corridor.” Explorer 2000 v2 at 39.5 lb is possible but it is a committed carry up stairs.
