A LiFePO4 station is a finite tank of watt-hours you can use indoors. A gas inverter is an engine that makes watts as long as you have fuel and can run it outdoors. Comparing them as “generators” is how people buy the wrong one.

DELTA 3 is the expandable 1 kWh EcoFlow we use as the “modern battery” example (1024 Wh, extra batteries to 5 kWh). The Honda EU2200i is the default quiet inverter spec: 1800 W rated / 2200 W max, 47.4 lb dry, 0.95 gal tank, 48–57 dB(A), 3.2 h at rated load and 8.1 h at ¼ load (Honda).
What gasoline does that batteries do not
- Refuel in 60 seconds and keep going. A 1024 Wh battery at 500 W is a math problem, not a tank.
- Honda’s rated 1800 W is in the same neighborhood as DELTA 3’s 1800 W — but the Honda does not “empty.”
- Parallel two EU2200i units with Honda’s cable if you need more watts. That is still two engines, still outdoors.
What batteries do that gasoline cannot
- Indoor use. Carbon monoxide is not a feature. Honda’s CO-MINDER does not make a generator apartment-legal.
- USB-C, UPS-style transfer (DELTA 3 lists <10 ms), and solar input (500 W on DELTA 3).
- No oil changes, no stale gas in a cold-climate winter carburetor.
The honest hybrid
EcoFlow sells a Smart Generator that can recharge a DELTA. Honda can recharge a station through an AC charger if you run the engine outside and stretch a cable. That is operations, not a spec-sheet winner. If your outage last year was 6 hours, size watt-hours. If it was 6 days, size fuel + a battery for the nights.
